Ever made a mad dash to the cafe for your coffee jolt, only to realise you left your reusable cup at home? We know we have been guilty of this once or twice.

According to Forbes Magazine, 1 million disposable cups end up in landfill every minute, and as outlined by National Geographic, 38,325 cups are disposed of by the average coffee drinker in their lifetime. These figures are astounding and show how the individual's impact can add up and have a real effect on the amount of waste produced.

To try and help you remember your Uppercup reusable coffee mugs we have come up with our top tips, so you don't have to do the walk of shame with a non-reusable or worse go without a coffee at all.

Tip One
Set an alarm. Setting a simple reminder on your phone for just before you leave the house can be a quick and simple way to remember your Uppercup.

Tip Two
Phone a friend/have a coffee cup sponsor. Know someone else who needs to remember their cup? Each day text 'your coffee cup person' to see if they are keeping true to their commitment and remembering their cup.

Tip Three
Wash your cup at the office rather than take it home.

Tip Four
Put your money where your mouth is. Place a jar in the office and if you forget your cup place a donation in the jar.

Tip Five
Go old school and use a post-it note on the mirror or on the front door with a little reminder.

321 Water 5These tips could also be applied to remembering your reusable water bottle! According to Green Magazine May/June 2010 edition (2010), roughly 3 million tonnes of plastic is used to bottle water each year. National Geographic has written that “ The bottled-water industry is so successful, it has outpaced milk, coffee, and juice
in a number of gallons of drinks sold” - further to this: the average price per litre of bottled water surpasses both Petrol and Milk.

We hope that by using one or a few of our tips, you can save yourself some money and help the planet by using a reusable cup or bottle and reduce the amount of waste you produce.
